Described as a hippie enclave by Thrillist.com,
San Marcos, Texas is located between Austin and
San Antonio. It is home to Texas State University, which has an outstanding recording arts program and fantastic music program. It's location is 30 miles from downtown Austin and 15 miles from both New Braunfels and Wimberley, home to many area musicians who have escaped the gentrification of Austin.
The city is home to the headwaters of the San Marcos river, one of the most aquatically diverse ecosystems in the Southwestern United States. We have the energy and diversity that the University brings, and also a small town Texas vibe, but with the added bonus of amazing food and entertainment choices.
This combination makes San Marcos an ideal spot for yellow DOG. Located in a former 5,000 square foot church, we have ample room and parking to service multiple acts simultaneously. Bus + van and trailer parking is available on site, with shore power and easy load in access.
For artists needing hotel accommodations, we have a corporate account with a new hotel 2 miles from the studio, and there are many short term rental homes nearby as well.
